Source Code and Production Keys Exposed on 1,000+ GitLab Servers #cybersecurity #tech
Over 1,000 GitLab servers remain exposed to a serious security flaw, and attackers have already been exploiting it. GitLab fixed the vulnerability back in October, but new reporting shows more than a thousand internet-facing servers are still running vulnerable software.
The flaw can allow an unauthenticated attacker to execute code on an affected self-managed GitLab server. And here’s why that matters beyond GitLab itself.
These servers can hold source code, deployment configurations, and credentials used to publish production applications. Compromising the development platform could become a pathway into applications it manages.
For affected operators, the investigation doesn't end with patching. Pipeline activity and deployment credentials deserve attention, too.
