Only 2,000 of 383,000 Vulnerabilities Were Ever Exploited #cybersecurity #microsoft #hacking
Microsoft found 78% of exploited flaws were takeover related. Its new research examined nearly 383,000 disclosed vulnerabilities, and only around 2,000 were linked to real-world attacks.
But attackers weren’t choosing at random. They favoured remote code execution, authentication bypass and privilege escalation. In plain English, these are weaknesses that help them take control.
For businesses running websites and web applications, here’s what matters. Which internet-facing systems have those weaknesses? And if one is compromised, can it reach your customer database or cloud credentials?
The vulnerability severity score matters, but what an attacker could control afterwards matters just as much.
