National Accreditation Platform

When Solar Accreditation Australia (SAA) was established as the new scheme operator for solar installer accreditation, everything was new: a new organisation, new staff, new roles and brand-new systems. More than 12,000 solar installers and designers across Australia depended on the platform Pixelbird built to keep their accreditation, and their income, intact.

Accreditation underpins installers’ ability to work and get paid, so the new platform had to be ready on day one. We had 16 weeks to build it, bring across all existing accreditation records and launch without disrupting the industry.

We designed the platform around the people using it: simple for installers on the surface, rigorous underneath, with security, reliability and auditability built in from the start.

Accreditation categories had changed, so every legacy record had to be recognised, mapped and carried across without affecting any installer’s standing. When installers logged in for the first time, their accreditations were already in place.

We worked closely with the Clean Energy Regulator so accreditation data flows into its systems, keeping the wider scheme running smoothly.

The platform carried an entire industry through the change of scheme operator. For other scheme operators and regulators, it shows what’s possible when security, data engineering and delivery sit with one team.
